Suggestion PROPOSED "NEWS" SECTION & FRANCE ATTACKS

NEWS-WHAT IS IT?

As a single male with hardly anything to do, I am proposing a new section in the TLOPO forums which goes under the name of "News" or "Current Affairs". This is where people make a thread that can be on international news, or not, and inform the community on what is happening in the world.

NEWS-WHY IS IT GOOD?

I think that this is a great idea as people can put their views into things and discuss about them. I like to be an open-minded person, and reflect on what others have to say about a certain topic. Let me be honest here, I don't know a lot of stuff that is happening in let's say... Asia, and I would like to know a lot more.

FRANCE ATTACKS

As you would have heard, at least 84 have been confirmed dead as a terror attack occurred in Nice, France recently. It was on Bastille Day celebrations. Today, the French Government has confirmed 3 days of mourning for the departed souls.

What has this got to do with TLOPO? Well, I propose that the team put the French Flag at half-mast sometime soon to mourn for the departed. Where? I would personally put it at the spawn on Ile d'Etable de Porc, the only French island in the game.

I think this will show respect not only to our French community, but to everyone, to show that we can unify as one to overcome the problems that face us.

I would love to be able to have actual political discussions.

At my old school there were barely any others Republicans, so I would end up arguing with 5 other people at the same time and not being able to make good arguments for all of them lol

Aha. Unfortunately, for you, I am a Democrat. I would love to see us having a perfectly logical and mild-mannered political discussion on what is happening.

If there are to be political discussions, they would have to have some strict rules in order for some people erupting on the website. If they don't want politics on the new proposed section, I can adapt.

I wouldn't be opposed to a news forum, but I think there are a lot of better places to get news and for people interested to get/discuss news. This is a video game forum. I don't really think it's the place to talk politics and I certainly don't think it's tlopo's job to include elements in the game related to news events. Very few other games do that.

On a side note, I am going to move this thread to the site feedback forum
 
Yeah. This makes sense. You don't want people spamming when they can't prove a point related to politics. The news section though... I might propose it again in the next 5 years or so.. :p

And in case you're wondering, I'm a socialist.

I'm curious as to when the discussions were done away with. I know for a time they were allowed.

I completely misinterpreted that. I thought it was from my first line. Yeah, I could make a thread, but that will be followed by many, many others, such as the failed Coup d'Etat in Turkey.

Not trying to cause drama as Captain Redhorn will probably get on to me or something. But socialism will make every country fall. I would explain it to you in depth if you wish.
