Nobody would end up using the weapons because you just get better ones from sailing or looting
I see where the idea he's saying is coming from. While what you say is technically true, if these weapons were added to the loot table, these would be two things, firstly it'd be a good way to give players intermediate weapons whilst they're completing their level 1-30 grind, and it would also be a source of mildly better gold than your average Rusty Cutlasses or Iron Broadswords.

You get better weapons from 1-30 than those and as for gold that is very easy to get playing black jack, selling rare items, and sailing.

It's honestly just a different way to play the game. Of course there's a chance you'll get a better weapon than this from a Loot container, but it's the chance to get these and upgrade your slightly worse weapons to make your damage feel more adequate for your pirate's level that really matters in good game progression.

And yes, I know it is very much possible to get gold from other sources much more efficiently, but to appease the masses, you have to think about those players who don't do much else beside looting.

I could be wrong, but it feels to me as though a few of you are forgetting that they all have the Powerful ability, making them much stronger than their attack's face value. I don't know how they compare to typical lootable items, but they're better than you might think at first glance.

Some of us have been playing POTCO since way before the El Patron arc was even publically known. And while I would like to see these weapons return for the novelty, I do have to agree that these pale in comparison to what we have now, but that doesn't stop people from buying MS-DOS machines. Yes, they are more or less obsolete, not supported by pretty much anyone, but they are a novelty.
