What was the issue? I don't think I'm familiar with it, haven't experienced any sound issues when sailing.

Is this with a mac? Because the mac environment does have a problem.

I always have music off but sound on . Don't recall a Issue with sound > Sailing .....

Those mac issues were corrected a few months ago, you should be okay to play with sound on macs.

I'm too chicken to even try and have got so used to the sound off that it now seems normal. The issue was so bad for so long that I just never even consider sound in game anymore.

To the people confused I believe he is referring to the memory leak issue with sound. The files wouldn't be disposed of properly and it would cause your game's memory usage to climb until you crashed, and it would climb rapidly. To the OP I don't believe they ever fixed the issue, certainly was never any patch notes saying it was fixed but I can't say for sure as I've also had sound off for ages now because of it.
