Screenwriting Pirate Movie / TV Show

Hey guys! Just recently graduated from college with a BA in Cinema Art and Science with a concentration in Screenwriting. Going for my Masters soon to be able to see if I can start writing a more in-depth piece of art with rigorous research. A plan of mine would be to write a pirate movie or a TV show! I really wanna get into the pirate lore and expand on it! I'd love to hear from people to see what they would love to see in a pirate movie/tv show! We need more pirate stuff around, am I right?

I can't think of too much at the moment, but ex-slaves who become pirates and the red, "No Quarter" variety of pirate flags were a few things that weren't really in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I don't know if those elements are included in other pirate media (or what little we have, anyways).
