Sea of Thieves MMORPG 2016

I probably post in this thread way too much but, here I go again... :hypno:

This article contains a lot of information relevant to what we've been discussing recently, and other things we may not have thought of yet. I assume it's trustworthy since it was written by one of the play-it-first winners.

I pulled out some main points:

The build of Sea of Thieves that we played was primarily focused around how crews interacted with ships in the huge sandbox offered by the game.

There are no assigned roles or classes. Every player in your crew is equal which made it very fluid and simple to control the ship.

Communication with your crew made it so there was no time wasted.
This raises an interesting question for us PC people. Seeing as there was no in-game HUD or instructions, will we be limited to only voice communications as well?

Something very interesting about the development of Sea of Thieves is that along side the Unreal Engine game is a prototype of Sea of Thieves that is continuously being worked on.
Could this be our PC version? Or just a raw testing sever?

Perhaps they just turned the HUD off? A lot of games do that for gameplay teasers.

pardon my ignorance but i've slept for a LONG time lol i thought SoT 'WAS' a mmo.

what's this "instance" schtuff?
I've tried to explain this various times (to everyone) within the past. Sea of Thieves is expected to be an open-world, similar to an MMO but not exact.

Prior to this year's E3 reveal for Sea of Thieves (I haven't yet had an adequate chance to catch myself up on much of the E3 SOT updates), the claim was made that not only are players capable of teaming up/crewing together via ship battles but also on land as well.

As the original trailer had stressed, landlubber pirates would also be able to participate in crew battles against other crews. This might have changed but, given how the average pirate feels obliged and inclined to bash another's teeth in...I hardly doubt it.

As far as the communication aspect of game-play goes, that is an interesting observation. And so, much uncertainty still remains.

As ex-POTCO pirates, I still feel that SOT offers a legitimate way for online friends to still actively engage with one another. Be ye wary though; efforts which strive to cater to your own SOT interests do not always have your own best-interests in mind. *It's important, therefore, to pursue SOT with a grain of salt given the very background of those whom strive to align your own interests towards it

While it looks "cartoony" it seems anything but a "kid's" game. Just because the art style is not super realistic, doesn't make it kid exclusive.

Frankly, if I want realism, I'll shut off the PC.

This game looks fantastic and I'll certainly be giving Sea of thieves a go when it comes out.

I've been hyped for this game since it was announced. Really looking forward to it and hope the hype turns out justified. Here's to them not pulling a Sean Murray on us.
