Question Servers are down so...

That's not how it works but ok... There steps to these things. Once again if "DONATE NOW" buttons are not flashed everywhere on the site there should be no issues. I suggest doing some research on how Mincraft servers were able to sell in game items without being shut down.

Welcome to what is called "copyright." Disney owns all assets of the game. I suggest looking into knowing what is legal and illegal by searching here:

That is because Mojang has graciously permitted them to do so (with some strings attached, no less). Remaking a game using somebody else's intellectual property/assets is a whole different beast.

Also I think Toontown rewritten had Playtimes at some point does anyone know how they were to break away from this system?
Yeah. They were able to break away from it by having enough time to optimize their platform to the point it was no longer necessary, and the same will happen here eventually.

By having a more structured team working on the game for years with little drama and a large fan base willing to test it out. They have been out of PlayTime beta phase since the end of 2014 (ToonFest). They have enough resources to make the game completely open at the moment.

Ahh okay, also (I doubt you know this) but how is TR funded?

1.If we donate for work they do for us, its a payment for a service, the service being selling a Disney product, which Disney has said NOT to do.
2. That site you posted isn't proof, just cause 1 person said this, doesn't mean that the original owners of the game/whatever that they are replicating didn't get a letter either and were forced to shut down. This was back in last year. The owners of that game could have seen this just recently and shut it down like Disney will do to TLOPO IF they take money. Proof equals more of a legal case, and even those cant be used, cause there are differences in those cases you can provide, and the 1 that could happen between Disney and TLOPO IF they took money for it. Which means:
3. NOT WORTH THE RISK

Very clever. *tips fedora* But still I stand by my statement that donations could work. Anything wrong with taking donations while streaming a different game on Twitch as long your Twitch and TLOPO stay as far away as possible there should be no problems.

Indeed, I am paying the dev a donation because I enjoy their stream... anything wrong with that. Yes agree its a stretch and should not be done.

While you may be right that loopholes might exist, the TLOPO team isn't interested in exploiting them. They are confident in their ability to fund the game out-of-pocket. The issues today were caused by some blind spots that were uncovered as the update was tested on a massive scale for the first time and will be addressed.
  1. Yeah, I agree and don't think donations are a good idea anyways. The above was me in a fit of rage looking for answers to the devs problems.
