I know some aren't huge on mini-games but Disney really did create some great ones. Blackjack, Poker, Fishing, Repair, Potions, Cannons, etc. all add to the entertainment and create more depth.
Someone has already suggested adding Liar's Dice as a mini-game or tavern game. I had a couple of other ideas as well.
Dagger Darts - Use throwing knives to hit stationary and moving targets.
Coin Bounce - Bounce a coin into a mug
Arm Wrestling - Reaction, timing and control movements would determine the winner.
Bartending - Like the classic Tapper game, only with pirates and rum.
A couple of other Mini-Game ideas:
Fort Siege – Pirates Online: Master of the Seas had a feature where the player had to battle an island fortress using the ship’s guns. Such a challenge would be very welcome in Pirates Online. Crews would battle stronger and stronger forts.
Would just be a matter of sailing to a certain far point on the map, the game would prompt the head of the crew if they want to play or not.
Treasure Hunt – Hidden clues, helpful NPCs and random dig spots already exist and could add up to a mini-game that is being played among the general populace as a pirate tries to locate a treasure hidden somewhere among the islands. Players would just approach a specific NPC to get started. Hunts could be repeated or you earn an achievement.
