The Current State of SvS

Tonight, me and my crew we're out plundering in SvS on Abassa. From what I see in SvS chat now, players are just name calling and taking each other as " cheaters ". I don't know what the issue is, if its the ship upgrades making attacks more powerful, or the delay of the server, but the state of SvS seems greatly darker. It's a very fun side game, and should be enjoyed by the players, but I believe people need to start taking the good sailors and gunners for who they are, then calling them cheaters. Tonight I was accused of " cheating " and " causing skips ", and words can't say how defeated I felt. This thread is for the SvS community, and the plead to stop making the game, a game of accusation. There are good svsers out there, and there are "glitchers", but people can't tell the difference anymore. Maybe moving SvS to Andaba again may help, or maybe a change in attitude amoung the SvS community may help as well. All I know, is that the hurting of feelings, and the name calling, needs to stop for a better POTCO community as a whole.

That was fun :) Not trying to be mean but, a lot of new svsers still don't understand how damage works in svs. You all need a time machine to go back and look at how old svs was done. "The new era of svs! comes with delay and idiots accusing you of cheating!" <-- All dayyy looonng. Anyhow, Have a great day.

I love the fact that you posted those screens Cat. It helps me prove another point. Back when we used to SvS with regular hulls, it was still common for some good crews to get 15k or above. Yet, now when a crew pulls the same 15k bounty, they must be "cheating. " It's the same game, and I don't believe people are realizing that, because of the hacking issue. It may be fogging their views.

People assume now since there are a few "bad apples" running around, everyone must be "cheating" if they're doing very well. This is just a sad stereotype now. People think to get as high as you may be, you have to "cheat" to get that high, when in reality you just know what you're doing. There will also always be those few "sore losers" who will call you names or what not, but what game doesn't have those.

SVS is my favorite activity to do, on POTCO.

*While I may not be entirely known on either French or Spanish soil, I have learned a long time ago that hard-core SVS'ers are extremely serious when it comes to their performance out within the ocean.

I guess I would like to make 2 points about what you had said, Bobby:
  • Hard-core SVS pirates are experienced enough (generally) to understand when pirates are actually cheating
  • Hard-core SVS pirates (IMO) are made up of 2 groups:
  1. Those whom are "good sport" :D
  2. Those whom are "sore losers" :cursing:
Regardless, the current SVS attitude which exists on POTCO is yet another attribute unfortunately linked to in-game glitching/modding.

I heard players complaining about "spraying of ammo" when they first advance into battle with a enemy. Firstly, it's common to see 8 bolts at first flying at you because the SvS server (Abassa) is in a very laggy and delay filled state. The server catches up with your gameplay by pushing all that damage lost in the delay on you at once. Once that delay patch is over, it goes on naturally for the most part. Delay also increases double sinks ( when you and your opponent sink each other at the same time ). This is just because the delay gives people an extra hit or two they normally wont get in before sinking. As for the real speeding, this is cheating. You shouldn't have 500 thunderbolts flying at your head constantly throughout battle. Also look at your sails when you suspect a cheater is about. Normally have that wide area of ammo which goes everywhere and inflicts high damage to your sails as well as your hull in a matter of seconds. Unless its completely obvious, they are probably not modifying or enhancing gameplay and playing as everyone should be, Cheat free.
