The Pirate Legendarium: Liberation - Main Characters

Tereysa de las Sombras

Honorable Pirate
Despite us being under the 10,000 character count according to this counter I found online, the forums doesn't think so. Which is why we're making this separate thread to put all the information that we couldn't fit on the main teaser thread, which can be found here.

Burke Insignia.png

Nathan Burke (The Captain)
A former officer in the Royal Navy, Nathan Burke served the Crown loyally for the greater part of his life. He was never stationed in one particular location, and tended to move between the Caribbean Islands, allowing him to see the full, widespread extent of Jolly Roger’s destruction. Despite numerous attempts to convince his superiors to act on the growing threat, he was met with dismissal every time. Coming to the realisation that the Crown would do nothing in the face of this horrific evil, he lost hope that anyone would stand against Roger, and attempted to flee before the Caribbean met its doom. Unfortunately, he was discovered, marked as a deserter, and imprisoned on Rambleshack for treason. After escaping and narrowly evading death by the seldom-seen grace of Jolly Roger, he has found himself roped into a life of piracy and an unexpected chain of events that could change the course of history in the Caribbean.

Doctor Hubert Lemaître (The Surgeon)
Hubert Lemaitre was a successful surgeon from France who made a name for himself roughly three decades into his life as a medical pioneer in Hispaniola. The conflict with Jolly Roger meant there was no shortage of patients in need of expensive treatment, and his firsthand experience with wounded let him know exactly what kind of monster the Caribbean was up against. Some had been scarred so deeply that modern medicine was not enough to aid them. Unwilling to accept his failures, he delved into the world of the Dark Arts, using Voodoo to heal the wounds that conventional practices could not. His initial successes sparked an interest in witchcraft and sorcery, and he indulged in more dangerous magics. His passion twisted into an obsession. He accomplished in days what took other doctors months by indulging in techniques that were considered taboo. After two years of manic miracle-working, the money and resources had dried up, but his hunger for further mastery of the Dark Arts had not been satiated. He needed a more consistent source of income -- and patients -- to continue his studies, and that meant finding a Captain who was willing to face the monsters at their door. That was the kind of person Hubert would be willing to serve, and they too would be of service to him.

Marchionne Ambrogio (The Swordsman)
Hailing from Italy, the noble corsair Marchionne Ambrogio comes from a background of wealth, taste, and a long line of weapon connoisseurs. For generations, his family has built a vast collection of masterfully-crafted blades, amassing hundreds of beautiful swords and knives. Following the death of his father, Marchionne took to traveling the world in search of new and exotic pieces to add to his grand collection. He was drawn to the conflict in the Caribbean due to the simple fact that where there are wars, there are warriors, and any warrior worth their steel carries a fine weapon. This war, however, was fought with weapons unlike any in his gallery. Not only was their craftsmanship exquisite, but they were imbued with powers the likes of which he had never seen. As he felled foe after foe, growing his collection one weapon at a time, it became apparent that the grandest of prizes would be carried by the men, women, and monsters driving this war. They would be his in good time, but wars could not be fought alone. If he was going to carry on his family’s legacy, he would need more than a strong sword arm and honed grace; he’d need friends at his back.

Red (The Rogue)
The ravishing rogue known only as “Red” is as quick-footed and quick-witted as they come. An orphaned girl from Ireland, Red made a living as a thief with nothing more than her name, the clothes on her back, and her light fingers. The lack of a family or friends at her side was never a hindrance to her; the only company she ever needed was that of herself. When the streets of Dublin began to feel too constricting, she decided to search for adventure beyond the shores of her homeland. Stowing away on a merchant ship on a course for the Caribbean Islands, she eagerly awaited what new dangers would entice her. Upon her arrival, Red could plainly see the wealth of opportunities laid before her. Pirates running amuck, the King’s Navy struggling to control them, a company of darkly-dressed mercenaries silently expanding their reach, and forces of unspeakable evil lurking in the shadows. It suddenly became clear to her that these islands were the battleground for what would become war like no other, and people were choosing sides. For now, she would play them against each other for her own gains, but she could not avoid the query dawning on her: where did she herself stand?

Marceline Insignia.png

Marceline (The Heroes)
The Marceline is a renowned guild of pirates who have led the charge against the EITC Black Guard and Jolly Roger’s Undead Army. Headed by the great Captain Walter, this savvy band of smugglers, strategists, mystics, and henchmen have established themselves as heroes among the pirate brethren. Their efforts to push back against the forces of darkness have become well known throughout the Caribbean. In response to Jolly Roger’s increasingly aggressive actions, they have begun rallying pirates to the defense of the islands and seas upon which the war will be fought.

Commodore Wentworth Rothwell (The Enforcer)
Commodore Wentworth Rothwell is the leader of the British naval forces based in the Caribbean. A father to his men, his two decades of military experience have given him ample time to find the definitive balance between firm and fair. However, his dedication to upholding the law and imposing the will of the Crown is unwavering, and there is no place in his ranks for the corrupt and treasonous. A recent increase in pirate activity spurred on by the notorious Marceline Guild has driven him to tighten his hold on the civilized islands, and the Royal Navy’s presence on the seas has been more prevalent than ever.

EITC Insignia.png

Captain Ellison Shaw (The Hunter)
Charming, cunning, and conniving, Captain Ellison Shaw is the sword of Lord Cutler Beckett, leading the EITC Black Guard to fulfill his governor's vision of a perfect world. His reputation as a merciless Pirate Hunter is known throughout the Caribbean by all, and his presence demands authority and fear from civilians and outlaws alike. His watchful gaze has been fixed upon Captain Walter and the Marceline for some time, but recent events have alerted him to a treacherous Navy turncoat who seeks to disrupt the order Beckett seeks to establish on the seas.
