I think I disagree, what should be different is that once those ships are disengaged they should go back to where they belong but they don't until they are sunk and respawn.

I went out to fight some ships then sailed away and went afk for 10 minutes only to find every ship within a 3 mile radius had swarmed the ship.
I'm implying they should lose aggro on you and not chase you across the entire Carribean.

Oh, it was that way in potco the ships would chase you for as long as you were at sea no matter how far away you ran once you aggroed them. It's not like that in tlopo, they do stop chasing you once you get some distance away. Since you were not sunk, are you sure those ships weren't left there by someone else? If they were after you and you were afk for 10 min I would expect you to be in the locker.

Yes, I miss that! I loved when half the seas followed me around and I sunk them while waiting for warships and hunters!

You can still do it! You just have to be very careful about how far away you get. If they unload they lose agro.

My personal fav is my ship getting launched RIGHT next to a jug... which for whatever reason decides to attack me right away, ensuing a frantic dash to the wheel. Good times.
