Thought for the Day: Prevention is Key

Everywhere you look whether it be television, internet, billboards or newspaper ads; you see the word "cure". Find a cure for this, find a cure for that, donate! I am all for helping others be healthier..etc but I have realized that the quest for cures is a complete waste of time.

The main avenue we should be focusing on is prevention. Find ways to encourage others to live more active healthy lives & to give up harmful habits. Help them overcome their addictions that may lead to disease.

Find the cure? Find the causes! The foods we eat(whether is is naturally unhealthy or does it have "garbage" pumped into it), the containers that the food is in,lifestyle habits, environment....etc.

Also; do you think all these big businesses that depend on people who have heart disease, diabetes, cancer...etc for money...want prevention?? Of course not.. They want you to waste your time on "curing".

Give me your thoughts please.

I don't think that most normal people's health problems come from addictions or habits but from their diet. Nowadays most food is filled with processed garbage or harmful chemicals that have been linked to illnesses like cancer but are still used because places like the FDA haven't banned their use.

The big businesses don't care about "curing" you or even finding the real cure because they're making more money now than if they gave this cure to the public. They want you to waste your money on getting "cured."

There be diseases you can't prevent. To mention a couple: Lime Disease. ALS and other genetic diseases. But sure you can prevent a lot of lifestyle diseases, although I believe people should be free to live their lives the way they want, without anyone to judge them. I know you meant to suggest/guide people to live healthier, but the way to a judgemental society is not so far from that thought. Best thing is information and to prevent poverty, as poverty leads to ignorance and unhealthy lifestyle.

Sadly diseases that are preventable... Diabetes for example, its not only caused from excess of high fatty, sugary foods in a diet. But a person's susceptibility to getting said disease is effected by their genes, as with every disorder or disease that can be developed overtime.
