I have a mac laptop that when I press FN + F12 it takes off hud. However, on Imac I cant?

F12 key is the Volume increase adjustment button. The model of the Imac Keyboard I am using is A1243. Any help, suggestions as to what I can do to enable HUD to go off? Thanks!

If theres an "Fn" button on your keyboard you could try that instead :) Thats what I do for my computer, I dont have an iMac but it works for me.

Actually, my mistake its not CTRL. Its fn. But, when I do FN + F12, it just slides my computer screen to the right and shows me gadgets.

I believe you can go into your system preferences and change your "F" keys to standard keys. This would allow you to take off HUD instead of changing the sound. You can always change your settings back afterwards! I'm not sure if there's another way to do it, but hopefully this works!

Okay, but now it only adjusts my VOLUME. As f11 is decrease Vl, and f12 are increase vl.

AHA!!!! I was able to figure it out!

By using this link: https://apple.stackexchange.com/que...1-and-f12-to-behave-like-normal-function-keys

BASICALLY. Go into: System settings - Mission Control

Where it says "Show Dashboard" Click on it, then remove F12 as the set command.

It gives you the options to place it as another "f" key, but I have no use for it so I simply removed it. All this time it was showing me the DASHBOARD.

Now when I simply click f12 whilst in TLOPO, it shuts the HUD off. Great! Thanks to everyone who threw their support in!
