War Brig Upgrades?

Hi all!
I am new to this (I used to play the original POTCO) and have no clue what I'm doing. I saved up enough gold to buy a war brig, and I have no clue what the best way to upgrade it is. I have done the armor for now, and saving up for other upgrades, but not sure what route to go. I will mainly use the ship for loot/gold runs, not so much svs, but maybe a little, although it's not my main focus.

Any idea? Are there any guides to upgrading ships anywhere?

I think if you upgrade the brig to copperhead since the resource is poured into that path. Maybe buy a war frigate and upgrade that through cargo to fortune hunter. Since both war brig and war frigate hold 25 cargo on cargo 3 upgrade War Brig and War Frigate both hold 24 cargo for Fortune Hunter Upgrade.
