What if disney decided to make a new starwars MMO...... would you support it, and are there any rumors saying that they might?

The answer is a NO of course.

Why support them and waste my money? Disney is Disney, and Disney = kids. I would never support any their games.
They made POTCO, everyone joined mostly because of the movies and Disney does know that, that's why the game is popular and profitable still (to some extent).

Personally, I would never support them again because simply they don't deserve people's support. So many players keep paying for UA and it turns out to be a waste of money. The only reason I still play is because August will be my last month of playing, literally, so I want to stay close with my friends.

Anyways though, I thought that there's already a SWTOR MMO out there and its doing pretty fine without Disney. If Disney was buying it, it would go down hill in like a year or 2. Disney is a HUGE all-about-games-and-kids-company- I doubt they have the effort, courage and even knowledge to make their games thrive and be popular to attract many people like WoW, COH, LoL etc. They just want money, they don't try to maintain anything they make.

I side with Irene and Captain Redhorn on this one.
As most of us stated previously, Disney is focused on children-like-games and stuff. Not that they are bad and junk, just that they don't have the passion, the devotion, the dedication and all the other good values which Star Wars has. Of course, money is always the main target, but there's a difference in how both "Universes" seek to achieve that goal. Disney manipulates each topic, squeezes it until there's nothing left to take, and then moves on to something else (**ehem POTCO ehem** ) ; Star Wars cannot do that : one, because series directors, game developers, and the people that work hard to deliver us that precious content really love what they are doing and enjoy being part of this great legacy, and second, because such behavior goes against the "balance" of that Universe itself : There is only one Star Wars, yet it has tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons of content, so "moving on to something else" is just lethal for it -------> once you've squeezed Star Wars, what else can you invent?
... lets just hope that the bright and most wise Board of Directors at the Disney Company understand that Star Wars is not some cheap story made up by guys who were drinking coffee one Saturday afternoon with nothing better to do but to play being Walt Disney.

There has been too much Star Wars production lately. Disney bought Star Wars obviously. There are also animated shows like The Clone Wars. Plus, Star Wars: TOR. It's just confusing. So I voted "No"

Actually, Disney bought "GeorgeLucasfilm" company for 4000 million dollars last year or so, if i'm not very much mistaken....
( 2000 million of that in cash money :drink:)
The Clone Wars series is previous to Disney. It might have some child-orientation ( despite all the characters that George Lucas himself wanted to kill on the past seasons :P ), but its none of Disney's making, not the first 5 seasons at least.
While SWTOR is somehow more independent towards the rest of the Star Wars Universe, since its run by EA and Bioware, so Disney's influence in it is only partial, just as any shareholder associate.

Interesting...

Well the way I see it, the game is either going to be good or absolutely horrible, believe it are not we and my guild were just talking about how we might have to move are guild over to Disneys star wars game because they are going to spend all of POTCOs funding on Star Wars MMO. It will suck, and I must say it will deepen the lack of updates being given to POTCO. I just hope they do minor updates to keep all us happy. Really, we don't ask for much and it would be awesome if they gave us some better content.

@WoW,COH,LoL, etc.

What about dota2? :P ;)

'Star Wars Attack Squadron' registered by Disney

EA announced a multi-yearStar Wars licensing deal with Disney earlier this year,

So this is where our money is going?

No no no Irene you have got it wrong.

Disney = Make money off kids

Though to be honest there is no which way to really make Star Wars an E 10+ game for the least unless you are Lego Star Wars. In any case my answer would also be No. Nein. Nyet. Yep. Thats right because Disney will just ruin it. And the grpahics..... no just no. Leave it to the others please. Disney's MMOs are all what a list of all MMOs on Wikipedia calls "Freemium" They will want to make money somehow and will not let you have any goodies or whatever. Disney doing a violent MMO is a bad idea. A superbly violent one mind you. I mean how can you make Star Wars Family anyways? You cant. You have to make it T. (Which Disney if you ask me should look in to doing with POTCO, making us T and unlock a few things here and there). And Disney being Disney, theyll find an ugly horrible way somehow. The answer is no way José. Period. Exclamation Mark. -le agreement with Irene, Captain Redhorn, and El Corsario.

Ironically though.... they [Disney] say its all about the family too..... why not make an actual T game then? They can make PG-13 (and now even own another franchise of PG-13) Movies, hence the POTC Movies. I would think they are capable. To add on to the family part, in my own opinion, when someone says its for the family, I find it overly dramatized (Ik thats not what I was trying to spell). Family to me means its the parents TEENAGERS and kids. Disney's, and well the majority of the world's idea of a family is Parents and Little Kids. The end. Try to keep to those lines. Disney is a greedy, make money off the little ones company. Not a family company. Teenagers are a group of the family. But for Disney it has to suit the little kids. Yep.

Like many of you, I am going along with a big NO on this one (mainly because of the statements made already by everyone that Disney is infatuated with meeting the expectations of 'kids' only and fail to include or consider 'other' demographics).

You know, it's just amazing to me that before I began to play POTCO, I had always thought of Disney as pro-family and pro-everyone. Unfortunately, the simple truth of the matter is that Disney has failed to capitalize on the principle and thought of Walt Disney himself whom, at one time, believed that:

"Your dead if you aim only at kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway."

If Walt understood this, then I just don't understand why those in-charge of the company now (with their PHD and MBA college degrees) cannot.

"Yes" Disney, it's a small world after all! But unfortunately, it's even a smaller world for the rest of us whom are excluded from being identified as Disney dreamers and supporters. Even Jiminy Cricket acknowledged the fact that..."when you wish, upon a star...it makes no difference whom you are."
:star:
NO, I don't think I would support a Disney Star Wars MMO game. If I did, the company would have to change it's perception towards the reality of gamers which, I don't see that happening anytime soon if at all.
