OK, broadsides are pretty bad, and when I say that, I mean really bad.
But never, until today, have I ever sailed into my own broadsides!!!
Seriously, do we understand broadsides folks?!?
When I'm circling my enemy, in a circle, steering left (or right, depending), my broadsides are NOT supposed to arc in the direction of my ship.
Physics people, please!
I know, y'all wanna code it so it seems challenging and fun, and I appreciate that, but shooting next to a ship, in front of or behind it, and always missing the dang thing is something I've learned to accept as a coding/dev flourish, even thought it's quite ridiculous.
But actually having the broadsides curve so bad that I can sail into them is well, beyond the pale, lol.
Of course it did no damage, thankfully, because one has to wonder about such things... but never, and I mean never, should any ship be able to sail into it's own broadsides.
Perhaps that silly arc broadsides take when curving forward is the issue, as physics says that's an impossibility.
Whatever the reason, maybe we want to look into that and see if we can't come up with something a bit more realistic.
Now I must admit that I personally enjoy the left broadsides shooting out the right side of the ship and vice versa, always missing the enemy (which seems to be the purpose???), or backwards, or backwards in the opposite direction, or in a slow motion frozen mass that hits the water next to my ship, but I should never be able to shoot my own ship.
It's just not possible... until now.
The wonderment happened on the shores of Raven's Cove, while aiming at least a dozen ships, all of which were missed, as my below deck cannoneers felt it best to shoot ourselves instead, lol!
Maybe it was meant to be, and I'll have to get used to it as well, but it sure seems odd!
