That's up to the devs, Personally i don't think anyone should get anything for being a alpha/beta tester, it's just a status symbol.

It doesn't matter. It's all for bragging rights, etc. I have had a key for months but it just doesn't seem necessary to give some people stuff in game and not others.

I think it would be cool to get something to show proof of beta key. It could just be a hat or piece of clothing, something only people who had a key could get. It doesn't even have to be something all that special.
