I find pirate planned events are better like parties at kings arm, svs events, birthday parties, promotion parties, etc

If I were a GM...

I would obviously be working for Disney... I'd try to at least bring some life back into their dev team and supply them with a little more help. Possibly work as a freelance graphics designer if it was available...

I'd patrol Abassa and other servers for glitchers, hackers, and the like - with banhammer in hand.

Maybe even make a few improvements to security such as an IP tracker. If a different IP address logs into your account, everything would be locked - you wouldn't be able to chat or delete pirates, items and ships would not be able to be sold or trashed, and you wouldn't be able to spend gold. This can be simply cleared by checking your email for a code.

I would do some wall to wall counseling there for sure, but that wont take too long. So afterwards I would collect groups of pirates and sail for gold glory and materials!

I would be running around, visible, and play with other pirates! It'd be good to bond with the game players and get to hear what they have to say and what they think about everything. Also of course being on the look out for anything suspicious and any glitches that need attention!

I'd have an announcement prior to the "event", such as "Chilling with GM. Come and have a talk about anything!"
GMs hardly have time to really have a dialog, where GMs don't avoid questions.

And, sometimes, I'd sneak into the game and suddenly show up and greet, "Ahoy mates!" in a bar, or in one of those ships doing material run together with pirates, or show up before invasion. Just sporadical appearance that takes pirates by surprise, but it might be good for pirates to know that GMs care.
