When a bad Officer boots folks maliciously

I agree with you Shamus, Rogues can do their evil deeds and run off laughing with no consequences. It probably empowers them to move on to other victims knowing they got away with it. Maybe people should share their names somewhere when this happens?
A scrub database. I haven't posted it publicly - it's not my style - but if someone does these malicious crimes, why should people protect them and keep quiet about their identity? It might make them think twice about doing it again - and warn others - if they're a known felon. Smh

It's great having friends like you and everyone who's shown support looking out for me!

If one is to be developed, it would not be appropriate to host it here at the forums. However, in a way just word of mouth in such a tight knit community as this is almost enough. For example, I know who Pie's errant officer is. He was also in our guild (twice). He then joined another major guild but when it was made known through social channels that he was your errant officer, his time in that guild was cut short. We can support each other as a community to reduce the impact of the virtual bullies in our world.

One word of caution is that a "scrub database" has the potential to harm as well. Suppose that someone adds a name to the data base just because they do not like them or they are jealous of them? It could be abused and for that reason I would be opposed to using one. In the Dark Archive we do maintain a private list that only our officers have access to on our guild site. We provide as much proof or evidence of their offenses as possible to maintain objectivity.

Same guy...recently tried to approach someone within TLOPO (publicly here) to inquire about a "friend" whom was interested to develop for TLOPO. Perhaps this was true but, the request was inquired before the whole guild incident had occurred (as much as I am aware).

So I do hope my passion towards this specific issue is perceived the right way, and not wrong.

There are extremely easy solutions to fix these dumb clan drama problems. For example, there should never be an instance where an officer needs to boot more than 2 people off the clan in a single day... all you need is a timer.

The only person that should have complete discretion on the clan roster is the guildmaster.

The gm should also be given notifications on when a member was kicked out of the guild upon login, if they weren't online.

I did not read the entire thread, so if what I am about to say, has already been said, then my apologies.

What happened to Pie, is obviously concerning and should not occur. It is tragic to think, that a rogue officer would kick people, simply for self pleasure.

With that being sad, the topic seems to have gone in a different direction, but an important one, at that. The topic of a public blacklist is an interesting point, and it is important that it is addressed properly. @Shamus The Brute briefly references how we are actually protecting (!) those who commit such acts (i.e. the rogue officer), by simply letting them go. It feels as if the rogue officer won, and the community lost. That should be concerning to everyone.

Make note that I am not proposing a solution; I am merely stating the problem and its unfavorable outcome (the rogue officer winning). I think most of us would agree, that the current system is flawed, to some degree; however, it is important the community is discussing this matter.

I don't think he has "won" anything. Word of mouth has spread his name to most, if not all of the major guilds. We are pirates, after all, and a chatty group :p. He will eventually stop playing or find a group of equally disrespectful people as his social group.

I agree with that. His reputation currently, is not the best; so, in that instance he lost.

However, he did win on a different scale. He most likely committed this act, to stir controversy within the guild, and maybe even on the forums (which literally is happening). He was able to kick five members - which he probably deemed successful - and achieved some level of "infamy", probably a sense of "fame" to him, though.

I'd never in a million years think of posting a Scrub list on forums.

I had the same thought at the time of posting this.. with my luck someone would find a way to get my name on the list, lol.

I'm totally for guilds supporting each other through our social channels by sharing information and stopping scrubs in their tracks.

The Scrub database was an idea my alter ego had.
I wouldn't really do that, I'm way too nice to devote time for revenge.

Well said. I had no idea this was an issue in POTCO, but I can definitely see how. It's sad that one officer going rogue could practically disband an entire guild. I hope your guild recovers well.

This was most definitely an issue on POTCO. Back then, there was no limits on how many people could be booted in one day. Rogue officers would end up wiping out entire guilds, sadly. I'm not sure when the 5 kick limits were implemented, but that was a good decision because that could've gone a lot worse.

Seems like the past...has caught-up to modern day.

You know what I think about that? To quote a line from the movie ^ above, "I hate manure!!!!" (It's OK, though. They'll 'eventually' get caught, right)?
