Question why do we need weather?

the weather option create a host of problems and even if you turn it off it still creates massive frame drops, from 29fps to 2.1fps. i would worry more about the stability of the game at the moment then worrying about weather. plus i have a reason to believe the weather is the problem behind the client crashing 4 times within one hour.

You can toggle it off. It's a feature that many POTCO players expected and looked forward to in the original game. TLOPO decided to add it in as a surprise toggle-able feature.

i know that it was a wanted feature but the reason why the original developers did not add it could be that it created problems like this. it may be toggled but the code systems still run even when its toggled off, so its off but not really off.

the weather does not cause problems with lag or the client. It has been in place for a long time and isnt the issue. The issue is from something introduced in the last update.

Actually - I've thought about exactly what he's mentioned before. To look further into it, I performed FPS tests with the rain toggled on and off. TLOPO has always run at significantly lower FPS than any of us ever run. I feel as if the developers should try to release an update without any available weather and see if people's framerates improve. See for yourself.

Summary - Rain runs in the background regardless of toggle which inevitable tanks players FPS.

I'm sure TLOPO has an appropriate handle on what is causing things.

For what it's worth, I was suspicious too that the introduction of things not previously implemented into POTCO during the last 6 months - 1 year of it's life could perhaps be the reason why so many things now are occurring. It's important to note that this is only an assumption/gut-feeling I do have though (i.e., 'clueless' to what's really happening).
