How is that disrespectful?

Also the game itself allows for no competition between pirates except for instances of PVP and SVS, which play a minimal role in the game. Adding trading lets all pirates compete with one another via the economy.
It is disrespectful. I'm not trying to take this game seriously, but it's implying that looting is basically a waste of time and doesn't benefit them whatsoever. If we're gonna talk about the "economy", I should mention that a similar distribution practice, communism, looks good on paper but is bad in execution, not to overcomplicate and politicize things.

Implementing trading implies that looting is a waste of time?!?!?! The whole reason for trading to be added to the game is because people desire loot. Hate to say it, but you are a bit backwards on that one.

This is absolutely ridiculous. How in the world is this similar to communism where everyone has the same stuff? We are trading with each other mate. Just like trading playing cards. When I played Yu-Gi-Oh (lol), I never once thought that everyone was equal. There were competitions in the Yu-Gi-Oh community that featured people with all kinds of different decks. Do you seriously believe everyone and their parrot will have the same Legendary weapons as you?

i just want to point out as well i tryed to log in useing two pirates on my accout and the 2nt browser said "someone is useing this account on a nather computer" so its impossable to use two browsers at once unless people steels away open slots from people (which is not right) with ult accounts

Okay think about the potential backlash if they decide to NOT add trading... Nothing really, we just move on with our lives.

Now think about the potential backlash if they DO add trading... Mass chaos and controversy!

I mean, they did speed up the sailing AI considerably compared to POTCO, and there were a few debates over that (I still mostly refuse to sail, my favorite activity in POTCO) but those debates have mostly quieted down now.

Trading would probably be a similar, though somewhat more severe situation. Of course, I don't want controversy but I think everything the team does that isn't 110% exact POTCO will likely have some controversy somewhere.

Why must controversy always equal bad ideas?

You know what else had mass controversy? Allowing women to vote. That was still a good idea.

So many people jumping to conclusions from a 5-second teaser trailer... I have avoided comparing this game to WoW before but now is the best time. Trading will be fine as long as they don't let you trade legendary items which I doubt they will. WoW is still alive after 11 years of allowing trade. I think TLOPO needs to add some kind of professions like WoW in order to add more depth to the economy of this game. Fishing is just too boring and plundering both requires a competent crew and a lot of time to make good money.

Even Lord of the Rings Online has trading and they're still alive. All players from both games still play the game as they would normally do because they can't only depend on trading in order to progress. How would this be any different on POTCO?

what are you talking about lol wow has constant raid updates people are still getting their artifact weapon maxed no one is there and yet a new raid just got released a few days ago, no one has the best in slot gear yet there is always things to do in wow collecting stuff achieving other goals, you are comparing tlopo which has one class to wow which has 12 classes and 36 different specs for those classes. I dont think anyone in their right mind can compare the 2 games.
WoW is an MMORPG, TLOPO is an MMORPG, WoW is a successful MMORPG, TLOPO... well it's getting somewhere but still developing. This game has to take lessons from somewhere. It's like trying to make a sculpture with no lessons, no references, and no advice.

A TON of successful MMORPGs have trading. WoW, SWTOR are just a couple i can name off the top of my head. They both are doing very well. Really I don't see how it could be too bad if successful well known games can do it and it is a major part of the game. Just my opinion though.

You can. Make pirates. Farm One Spot. And Trade it. ALL to one pirate. Getting an unfair advantage. Over other pirates.
The more pirates that loot the same spot, the HIGHER chances you have to get a bright/famed/legendary.
How is that not hard to understand?
That could be circumvented by adding some sort of system that requires you to offer a certain amount of value in exchange or only allowing you a certain number of trades per person or per guild per day

the thing is you CAN'T

i tryed to play on two open windows on two diffrent pirates on one account

what happen?

one got to the pirate screen while the other did not and a message poped up saying

"someone is useing this account on anather computer logged in"

so unless someone makes ult accounts and does this (stealing other players slots which is not right ) then i guess someone could do this

Hey guys, I figured I would just throw my two cents into the whole trading debate, is it a good idea, or a bad idea?

It's a bad idea.

Trading is going to be a disaster. It's a short term solution to a long term problem and will cause people to get bored and stop playing. What was it that made this game so unique that it kept people playing year after year? And how proud are you going to be that you purchased that weapon rather than found it by hard work?

Let's be honest, looting is the primary in-game mechanic that keeps people interested in the game.

I've already talked to SEVERAL prominent looters in the TLOPO community who said they were going to QUIT the game if trading is implemented. One of these people being @Charles Warmonk

ANYTHING that causes this kind of reaction is probably not in the game's best interests.

If they are going to add trading, I at least hope there are restrictions on what you can trade.

I know there are plenty of people who want trading because they've been searching for so long for a weapon or clothing item that they just can't seem to find, and they want to be able to just purchase said item so they can finally have it. Isn't the struggle of looting hours and hours for a weapon most of the fun? That moment when you finally get that prized item you've been looking for, there's nothing like it. The whole concept of looting will be forever tainted if trading is implemented.

I'm not a developer, but I am asking them to seriously think about what would be in the game's best LONG TERM interests. Trading would severely ruin the RNG aspect of TLOPO, some people just aren't as lucky as others, that's just how it is.

As far as the looting community is concerned, if you value the concept of looting and the items that you find while looting, I encourage you not to trade. Looting is about the self-gratification and joy of when you finally find a legendary or a famed or a bright, that feeling doesn't exist if you can just purchase the items instead.
If they add trading there will always be the possibility to scam people with real money or other in game items on top of killing the point of looting, I agree trading is a bad idea.

I thought it was a bit ridiculous too. Ignoring that dead end of an argument, you shouldn't be allowed to skip the hours it takes others to put good weapons into circulation when you can just find a guy in Tortuga offering all the best items. It's not that fair to the looters.
