Would you want a Ship of the line as a possible player ship?

Would you want a ship of the line as a player ship?

I feel if a SotL were to be added, like I said on page 2 it couldn't possibly be some all powerful death machine like everyone seems to think. They have no implemented repair stations, and are so massive that trying to get anywhere on the ship would take ages. Also having no upgrades while having a prohibitively expensive initial purchase price.
For those who think it would still be broken for use in SvS, it could be implemented where there is a max number of SotL's per side at a time. Could that work?
I mean, I don't think that the SotL is needed, but I wouldn't mind seeing more types of player ships.

No, it would be too game breaking. Not to mention, it would be a lot of work to create the new designs for its upgrades. Also, I don't recall anyone from the POTC universe (specifically pirates) owning a SOTL. I could be wrong though.
The Designs for the upgrades are already in the game.

What they really should fix in this game is the ordinary ships.
What do they need to do instead of releasing ship of the line?

Ships Edits -

War Brig: Give it a 600+ armor boost in the back, armor now 12600, since the back is a huge target in SVS and makes the ship do badly. Make it cost only 60 grand. Get the facts right at the shipwright too! Seriously, it says it has 22 broadsides and 14 deck cannons, which is a lie. Should be 24 and 12.

War Frigate: Get rid of the weakness in the back, add 400 more armor to that section. Armor now 13000. A frigate does not have this back weakness in real life, and in fact no sailing warship back then was especially weak in any area. Sheesh.

War Galleon: Give it 12500 armor, evened out across the ship, right behind my suggestions for war frigate and brig. This ship should be more durable since the Black Pearl is actually an East Indiaman Galleon, in the same family, and takes a hit well. Pearl is also fast as a galleon. Make War Galleon's top speed 9 knots instead of 8. Get rid of a weakness in the front and make the armor more even. Get the facts right. Thanks.

p.s. These changes won't be enough to make War Galleon the best in SVS, but they will make it do much better and will make it the best material and loot run ship, which is as it should be. Right now it sinks way too much.

War Sloop: Even out the armor, like on war brig, and give it 200 more armor spread across the ship to compensate. This thing is already OP as a small target so a huge armor boost isn't necessary.

All the people saying SOTL would be a bad addition are the people who are too lazy to grind the gold for one and upgrade it. Plus you know you can just take rank 5 explosive shot to one and it takes it out quicker, right?

Oh come on! This SOTL addition would make all the other ships irrelevant and is the enemy of variety. SVS is already tedious enough with plenty of runners and repairers. Have you timed how long it takes one full crew to sink a SOTL? Now imagine a copperhead Ship of the line in SVS with a full crew of loyal repairers. Don't you see that this would break the game? It would be impossible to sink people.

I wish more people were in favor of my solution, which is to buff out all the weaknesses in ships and make everything better. Just fix the ships we already have so that they each get used in SVS about the same.

For instance, get rid of Galleon's weakness in the front. Buff the darn thing already and give it more health. Give it more speed.
Get rid of frigates weakness in the back. Make its armor stronger. Make Sloops armor more even, no weakness.
Give brig more armor in the back since the back is a huge target. Etc....

Fixing what we already have would make this game way more enjoyable. After all, there's nothing wrong with these models, just the stats.

Getting facts right at shipwright would be nice too. Like, instead of lying and saying war brig has 22 broadside and 14 deck cannons, say 24 broadsides and 12 deck cannons, which is the truth.

Galleon needs the biggest buff. Poor ship is always sinking. It is really tall and wide, so it is easy to hit and has abysmal health for something that a level 1 gunner would hit 99% of the time and not miss.

Or simply not have 5 repair spots on the SotL, because that would make it harder to instant repair. Also, wouldn't a copperhead SotL be morbidly expensive? As in near full inventory of mats and gold expensive?

SVS
This would not break SvS. In fact if it turns out to be the least agile ship it'd probably be the worst possible choice, my evidence:

War Galleon - generally considered the worse SvS ship, except if you upgrade it to storm chaser (agility) it's actually quite a pain.

The Sotl is so massive it'd take a year to get enough mats to upgrade it if upgrades for it are even added in the first place, so nobody's getting a streamlined sotl for svs.

PVE
Who honestly cares, Storm Chaser (war galleon, war frigate, war brig-you pick) already one shots everything but hunters if it connects (you know those broadsides are wacky) I don't understand how this would be any different.

tbh half y'all haven't touched SvS in this game yet so idk how you know this ship will break it

I really wouldn't mind a SotL as a player ship. It would be a great ship to plunder in. That would be a heckuva crew to man it, How many guns per side I wonder? And what would be the cargo capacity? It could be a lot of fun with a good crew! But it in all likelihood it would have the same speed as any other ship and not the speed burst that the NPC ship would have to keep it balanced.

Okay I see a lot of historical things going on here and I'm not sure that is what this is about. It's if the Player wants the ship as a player ship not if it would be accurate to history. I believe the ship should be released to the playerbase, most of us want the ship and I've wanted it ever since the test server on POTCO. It isn't overpowered in anyway I think when people say its overpowered they are thinking about the Warship variant not the Player variant.

I agree with everything you just said. The SOTL would be a great addition to the game.

Here are the SOTL's base stats
Hull: 20000
Turn Speed: 1500
Speed: 8
Cannons: 14
Broadsides: 12
Cargo: 24
Shipmates: 12

I'd like to see all the TLOPO staff own/have the option to own a SotL. Just them though.
I agree that it would be really cool to see the staff operating the SOTL's. Then we would know they are out there observing and watching over us. We could also attack them and they could attack us just like any other enemy ship. that would make it more fun and interesting ) Limiting them to staff members would keep the numbers of them down. we dont want to see an ocean crowded with Ships of the line

The Boarding glitch is still a very real and serious issue. Would you please look into that. when boarding (especially Ghost Ships) and returning to your ship, our ship becomes a ghost ship where you do not see your shipmates and sometimes cant repair or use the cannons. You must restart the game or tp to another island or back or to an friend. Not that bad but you crash while attempting to fix that. That is why I just use the Parley option to avoid this headache.
