Question Client Login

I was trying to log into the client to do any updates that need to be done, I was wondering if it needs to be my registered playtime to even login or if the client is not recognizing my account.

Yes, it needs to be during your playtime to install updates. They should be fast, less than 10 minutes, so you should be able to play the majority of your playtime.
