I'm new. How do I get started?

Hello! My name is Cam Rose!
I used to play Pirates Online, a while back. Maybe around 2007-2008. I just remember this game and wanted to come back and play! Once I got back on to register I noticed you have to have an alpha key to play? What is this new thing you guys have added? And do I need one to play? If so does anyone know where I might be able to gain one?

The most common way is camping around at the IRC https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.gamesurge.net/tlopo and waiting for one of the devs to drop one in the chat. Dont beg for one though, that will get you banned. If you dont have time for the IRC camping, you could wait for a giveaway the forums might do
