Suggestion In-game memory usage counter?

What with the memory leak issues, would it be a good idea to have an in-game memory usage counter in the same fashion as the FPS counter? I feel like it would be useful for both testing purposes, and knowing when you are going to crash.

However, I'm not sure if:
1. It's possible.
2. It would be useful.
3. It would be easy to implement.
4. I know what I'm talking about.

Thoughts?
