When I go to log in it says 904: Couldn't extract archive: phase_1.mf.bz2. I've tried reinstalling and I still get that error.

I'm sorry, this is a known issue that is being researched. Go to the TLOPO file on your computer and delete that file. This should force the launcher to "repair" itself since some files it needs are missing.
