... would be the game client remembering which server you were on when you crash and defaulting back to that one. You could automatically rejoin your crew, and just maybe teleport back in time to save the voyage when the captain disconnects at just the wrong moment.
Or if it suddenly gained the ability to use more than 2G of ram, that would work too.
