Are you disqualified if your story is longer than 400 words? And does that include quest line?
After reading the staff posts in the first 2 pages of the contest, it sounds like they're trying to keep it restricted to 400. Someone asked about going over 400 for the purpose of developing creatures for the island, and the response wasI do believe 400 words is just a guideline, and I think the 400 words was the total word count.
You can go slightly over, just try to be concise if possible.
And yes I'm pretty sure it includes the story line.In order to let the judges review all posts, there is a 400 word limit on stories.
The 400 limit is kind of a relaxed limit. It's mainly a general guideline of how many words (total) to use. Any posts that exceed the limit greatly may not be considered to win (because the judges will have to review a lot of entries). After reading the staff posts in the first 2 pages of the contest, it sounds like they're trying to keep it restricted to 400. Also the contest rules in the first post specify this:
And yes I'm pretty sure it includes the story line.
@Captain Redhorn could you please clarify in case I got anything incorrect here?
Isle of the darned
Backstory/Questline: Little is known about this island except at first, this island was a resort to most, peaceful and serene, being a perfect getaway for the hard working pirates of the Caribbean. However, after the crew of the infamous pirate Nefarious committed mutiny, the island grew dark and corrupted. The darkness lay waste to everything in it's path, living or not. All that is known now is anyone who thirsts for a second chance at life to seek vengeance towards the people that betrayed them travels to the island. There is where the cursed spirit of Nefarious grants them a second chance to right their wrongs, or what most people do, hunt down the double-crosser. The quest line would consist of talking to a mysterious man at the port of Cuba. He would ask you to help him fish in return for some gold. When you accept, the man stabs you in the back and runs off. Prior to accepting a note would pop up pledging your loyalty to darned instead of Spanish or French. You wake up in complete darkness, not knowing if you're alive or not. You feel a presence around you but nothing appears to be moving. Suddenly, you see the spirit of Nefarious appear, as if something from a fantasy book. He asks if you would like a second chance at life, serving under his command, or to rest in peace. You choose to live under his command and begin the quests he asks of you, whether it be sinking Spanish and French ships or collecting sacred artifacts from the British.
rules say that the word count is for the backstoryI do believe 400 words is just a guideline, and I think the 400 words was the total word count.
