Crimson Peak is the latest Guillermo del Toro directed film, released just in time to give us all a chill running up our spines for Halloween. Known for his beautifully Gothic imagery in most of his movies, this one is set mostly in a deteriorating English castle, located in the desolated area of Cumbria, the most northwesterly county of England, bordering Scotland.
Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Tom Hiddleston ("Loki" in Thor) do solid acting jobs, sharing the bill with assorted apparitions from the other side. We saw it Saturday night, and while he doesn't top "Hellboy" with this medium-bloody thriller, if you are looking for a good horror flick for Halloween, it easily delivers a great two hours of scary entertainment.
