In Potco i was master at everything although i only used sword gun and grenade.
for gun it matters who you fighting but the take aim and shoot are a must have since they do 125% more damage with all bullet types at level 5.
For sword its a must have for you to have all the combos maxed out then have blade storm at level 4 and have sweep at level one.
Grenade is a quite easy one, but max out throw and long volley to level 5 (Both are recommended but only one is needed) then for the ammo get the basic explosive maxed out and siege maxed out. finally you need demolitions to be at level 5 this will mean you can damage more enemies at once. after this you'll have 5-10 extra points to use however you want smoke grenades are helpful against hard bosses.

the rest i never really used, and i hope this was helpful.

I personally find only the last two or three skills in the sword combos worth investing points in.

Maybe for broadsword it would be better for the middle three? But back when I maxed sword broadswords didn't exist.

The last three are very nice to have maxed, although I'm not quite maxed out on sword rn, that's how my current skill points are built on sword. Max on the last three with minimal only 1 on the first 2.

You're a smart man with them cannon points. I assume you went firebrand over thunderbolt because you have a ship hull that uses firebrands. The important thing is the full investment in Shoot, Rapid Reload and Barrage. A lot of people don't realize how important these are, especially Shoot, for all the cannon types that fire in volleys of three.

Sailing intrigues me. You maxed your broadsides but not Taskmaster? I actually have all four passives maxed, and each of my broads are at level 3. Though I'm probably going to retrain and get rid of Treasure Sense eventually so I can boost my Open Fire, which I assume you left at three because you have the sails boost.

I recommend at early levels to use your points to invest into "cheap" skills such as lead shot, round shot, and sword combos, that way you can spread out your budget to buy clothes, ships etc. when you get to higher levels I recommend putting your points into either "tank" skills: endurance, dodge and parry, or "glass cannon" skills: blade storm, sword combos, shoot, take aim etc.

No problemo! Glad I could help, I don't mind if you use similar or exact sets like mine, they are just personalized for how I play. Always good to experiment ;)

The whole deal with Taskmaster, or lack thereof, is that I don't find much a use for that 20% increase to broadside recharge. I personally don't feel as if they were worth maxing after Tacking & Windcatcher, and Treasure Sense is basically a must for efficient gold farming on Mat runs, so when it came down to my final choice for skills, I decided the extra 10% per Broadside would fare much better than removing that and another point from a different skill.
