Discussion Cannon Defense

Cannon Defense appears to work ok but today I stopped leveling at level 3 in cannon defense.
but I noticed my fellow pirates who were helping one of them was able to shoot firebrand shots so Im wondering if this is a bug with me or if cannon defense is still kinda broken.
anyway tell me your thoughts on this and if you're having this problem too.

You need to re-enter Cannon defense for it to work some people said they suddenly jumped like 10 levels after having this bug but take the safe route and re-enter instead of wasting time
