Sailing Computer crashes when I board public ships

When I board public ships game crashes and I get booted off. I am able to sail my personal pirate ships but can't use cannons or broadside without crashing. I have an IMAC os high sierra 13.13.3. I just updated mac as suggested for logon and once I did the ship, cannon, and sailing crashes started happening.

Please help. TY

Some Mac users have found it helpful to un-tick all the boxes in the audio menu.

i normally don't use sound when i play. so even without it i still crash.
