I voted yes....in my opinion questing offers some 'direction' to newcomers to the game, they add interest and diversity of game play.

To remove them would be like saying 'Lets remove sailing from the game because 5% of players don't like it!'

Always in games people like different aspects more than others...questing, looting, character development, collecting things, maxing everything possible, trading, socialising.......I very much doubt that anyone loves every aspect of any game. That is why we meet such a wonderful diversity of people in online games, because there is a variety of content elements that suit a variety of play styles and preferences. :)

Teleportation totems and weapon unlock quests are just about the only quests most people consider a must. You certainly don't have to do any quests though. You can still do pretty much everything in the game without questing at all, albeit you're gonna have a hard time without teleportation and some weapons. If you decide to do only those quests and skip weapon upgrades, the black pearl story, and side quests, then the game is pretty much just like it is to everyone else. I like quests though. The Black Pearl quest in particular, even though its long and tedious, it shows you around the Caribbean and makes you explore places you may normally never go.

I voted yes even though it is clearly not needed, the game could continue without questing. My impression is that the poll was meant to gauge the popularity of questing and not it's necessity. I really like questing but sailing is my favorite part of the game. I love how there is such a large variety of things to do in this game and questing is a big part of that. I admit that quests that do not offer a big reward for me personally get ignored in the short term in favor of more lucrative activities but in POTCO I eventually completed every open quest. Once other goals are mostly complete I will likely do the same here in TLOPO.

Questing gives a direction to your gameplay. It gives the game a story and a purpose. And it is a great way to earn rep. The game is well designed to give a choice of what you can do at any time. You can ignore your quests and just smash enemies or whatever or you could follow the quests and learn more about the thorough story and Caribbean community that both Disney and the TLOPO team have put together for us.

I'm sure quests can become more interesting and probably less repetitive more dynamic and have amazing exotic new items as well as access to new areas, like the Ravens Cove Quest let you into the mines... and that's all in the future!

The possibilities are endless and exciting, some of the quests are just like a filler for now but no doubt over time everything will evolve just like the game itself... it will be great just to be able to think back and say "I was in Alpha/Beta" out there testing and playing the game:D
(I've only got about 20% of the Black Pearl Quest left... can't wait for the Boss Battle and Mastery (Leadership) for sailing!)

PS. I'd like to visit Tia Dalma more, she seems to drop out of the scene after Totems and some other stuff? I'm sure she could have a bright future and be a real star in TLOPO if we just gave her a chance to shine;)

Some people love to Quest ,single player, campaigns.
I prefer live players pvp or multiplayer. Its all I do. Questing for clothing and such is not for me. I need max fury cannon not boots.
Ill do the minimum for the 4 things I need. Sailing, cannon, cutlass, dagger. If it aint that, Im not spending time on it. Ive maxed pirates before.
