Okay, will do! It seems the odd fix of muting my sound actually worked but I believe from what I am seeing so far it seems to be an issue with sound in regards to battling ships outside causing the crash for myself and possibly other users.

Hi, I know this is a late reply but I am also having this issue as well and I don't know what to do. Everything else works just fine but firing and attacking ships which is the major reason why I am reluctant to play this game, I'll try and get a log and post it.

Escape > Game Settings > Audio > Uncheck everything > Save

For some reason no sound fixes it.
