OK, these outfits don't match all that well but there's more to it than that:
The owners of these pirates didn't know each other until I introduced them when we took this screenshot. When I first met Captain Potato he was at Jimmy and I started chatting to him and I was thinking he was Captain Potatoe and he at first just started chatting back because I'm friends with his main, @ Eric Bluehawk, and he didn't realize I didn't know who he was. Later I started saying things that made no sense to him and we figured out that there are two Captain Potato/Potatoe(s) and I was confused, it was totally hilarious!
