Tomorrow (9/11/2017) is the 16th anniversary of the deadly attacks that happened on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

What happened on 9/11/2001?

This day, unknown to most, would be the day that the deadliest terrorist attack in modern history would take place, and would leave 3000 people dead. In a succession of coordinated events, 4 planes were hijacked by 19 members of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group.

2 of these planes; the American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center - resulting in their collapse a few hours later.

American Flight 77 flew into the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93 was aimed at the White House but crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after crew members attempted to throw out the hijackers and regain control of the plane - but failed.

Everyone on board of these 4 planes unfortunately passed away.

Why is 9/11 still important to this date?

9/11 was the event that sparked the war on terrorism - still continuing to this date and not only in America, in other countries as well. Police forces and firefighting forces were appreciated for their extremely bravery and awareness spread all around - terrorism is real and is a real threat.

From this date on - airport security all around the world had been tightened and new global airport requirements had come into place. Border security tightened as well in addition to travelling to different countries becoming more difficult (in terms of paperwork)

As mentioned above, on September 20th, 2001, The war on terror was declared and commenced.

So, let us remember those 3000 innocent lives that were taken from the world, and let us pray for those who lost loved ones, and those who passed away. Let us thank those that offered their lives to save others and let us thank everyone who helped rescue.
