So, I'm not currently a high level, I just started playing again. I Have brawl at rank 2 and I'm trying to equip it, but no matter what I try I cant. I know its a stupid question, but how do I equip skills.....

I just got to Devils Anvil and the Brawl skill disappeared along with my skill points.... hopfully a trainer gets it back

Weapon skills are equipped by adding skill points to that particular skill provided you have the required weapon skill (In Brawls case your sword needs to be level 8) and add however many points you want to said skill then that skill becomes available for use.
If you wish to look up what the required level is in TLOPO there's the Pirates Online Wiki (Link: http://piratesonline.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page) or you can mouse over the skill which is found by pressing the default key on the keyboard (In my case K is the default key) or by opening your Sea Chest and clicking on the compass tab on the far right of your sea chest with the letter K on it and the tooltip that appears will tell you what the required weapon level is (See below).
