Steam platform by Valve Corporation

Gotta say im a little surprised I havent seen a thread about this yet. Steam is a client for Xp/Vista/Win7/ and Linux. You can buy games as they come out and download them straight to your computer to play. It gives trailers on every game thats on it. Most popular big publishers will post their games to steam generally this is your go-to place for games on a computer. An example of some of these games are Every COD game Saints Row the Third most of the GTA games Every game made by vaulve ( portal, left 4 dead, half life ext.... ) large selections of indie games and and a fairly large amount of sega games as well.

Steam comes fully complete with:
-a wallet system
-a library to store all your games for easy access
-a fully functional friend and group system that allows easy voice chat between friends and group -members
-easy searching for games and high security systems to protect your information
-a workshop dedicated to mods and custom games/maps for games to provide easy installation
- Frequent sales where popular games ( and others) could be on sale for as much as 96% off
-frequent sales of packages of games (usually all games from the same publisher)
if you hope to primarily play games on a PC you should definitely look into downloading it, downloading the program its self is free and so are some (not all) games.
