It would appear that we have a server outage. I know I was having issues logging into any server as well as many other people. It's talked about by dev's in another thread.

I noticed that a number of items from my inventory (including clothes my pirate was wearing!) suddenly started vanishing with "'itemABC' has been removed" just appearing on my screen (I wasn't even at a peddlar or selling items when it was happening)... I'm HOPING that these will still be in my inventory when we can log back on? 
Also.... it's clear that one of the things lacking on the 'Test Server' is stress testing - having 30 people online concurrently is very different from 300, especially if you have specific event or bosses only on some, not all, of the 'regions' (Oceans as you call them), meaning that during said events etc you're going to have 200+ people on an individual 'region'. SO..... How exactly does someone volunteer to access the Test Server??
