Beta Key

BETA KEYS ARE USELESS NOW, don't worry about getting a beta key
No. They're not.

Playtimes still exist, you just get issued one when you get through the queue. This means you still get disconnected after three hours. Even if you play for 30 minutes and then log off for two hours, you get stuck with 30 minutes left on playtime.

Yes you can queue back up, but that doesn't change the fact that you get disconnected.

This interrupts sailing runs all the time (crew members or even captain running out of time), it can prevent people from sailing at all (why start a run if you have less than X minutes left?).

When Cannon Defence was a thing, you could spend three hours playing and when the loot finally gets any good you get kicked off and someone takes your seat.

Things like that is why a beta key is still wanted.

just log back on right away there is no wait

Yes, I acknowledged that, but being kicked off in the first place is an inconvenience. If you're sailing alone it ends your run, if you're not alone it's still an inconvenience. If you're in CD someone can take your seat. If you're fighting Darkhart you log back in on the other side of the island.

It's an annoyance. One we can put up with, but it's enough to where we still want beta keys. They're not useless.

Also, as servers get more populated, Beta Keys will be even more important. Imagine a year down the line, it is entirely possible the queue will swell to maybe even a hundred at a time. I'd like to not be at the mercy of the inevitable influx of players.

Hopefully a year down the line there will be open playing instead of the queue!
