I generally wouldn't touch the virtual memory paging size, unless you are running out of RAM, or if you are actually lowering the value. Increasing it can actually slow down your computer in some cases as it sets aside a part of the hard drive (HHD) to use as if it were RAM. HHD space isn't really meant to be used as RAM and is much much slower as a result. If you have a solid state drive (SSD) it will be a bit faster but know that it will considerably shorten your SSD's life from all the writing to the drive.

TL;DR: I don't recommend changing the virtual memory paging size unless you are actively running out of memory when running programs. But the rest of the tips are good.

It may be a problem for some that you are getting high FPS while charging but experience low FPS while not charging. If this is the case, just go into your power settings and select "high performance" whenever you take the computer off the charger, and change it back when you start charging again. It does use battery faster, but your FPS will go up significantly. Also, leaving the computer on the charger is not a good option, as that can hurt the battery.

Don't you mean choose high performance while charging because high performance while on battery counteract each other? Also, leaving the laptop while charging for a long time is up to debate. Is there a source where charging the laptop after 100% battery life hurts the laptop?

No, you would have it on high performance when you're not charging, at least in my case. This is because I've experienced good FPS while charging, but when I unplug, it drops to the single digits, teens, and twenties. The high performance setting changes that and gets my FPS back up to 60ish. I actually didn't find a source where leaving it on charging hurt the battery. Maybe I'll do some more looking, but I couldn't find anything super easily.

I tried going back to my original settings for number of processors described in Step 3. The game still crashed, so when I tried reverting back to maximum processors the drop down menu only shows 1 instead of 2,3,4,5, etc. Will keeping to 1 processor affect me?

Edit: Fixed the problem and the processors are 8 again.

So seeing that my PC can run most games at a steady 30-60 fps, and struggles to run TLOPO at that, I thought I would make a tutorial that really helped my performance with the game to make it as enjoyable as possible!

Power Options:

Step 1: Open Your Control Panel

Step 5: Go to the advanced tab, and adjust performance for programs, then click the change button

Step 6:
Uncheck the automatically manage paging file size for all drives
Select custom size, and set it to the recommended amount. Click set, and ok

Step 2: Go to the boot tab, and select advanced options

Step 3: Set the number of processors and maximum memory to their highest values, and click ok

Step 4: Go to the services tab, check hide all microsoft services, then uncheck whatever you don't need starting up with your computer

Step 4:
Find the latest drivers by googling your GPU's
Look only for official pages (geforce.com, intel.com, amd.com)

doesnt work for me sadly im on a custom build desktop on windows 10 not a laptop on windows 7 but the fps thing is a real big issue im going from 60 on land to 10 on ship on high settings when i can play much more demanding games like World of Warcraft on high at 80-120 fps but i need to have settings at medium on TLOPO to have 30+ fps when on a ship
