Blog Post Developer Stream Recap: Big Announcements!

I didn't get a chance to watch the entire stream, but I am hearing that to do the Raven's Cove quest you first have to do the black pearl. I don't really enjoy the black pearl quest, as it's tedious, and I don't typically enjoy questing. I am a looter, so having to complete an enormous quest to start really looting the good stuff is kind of annoying. The lag fixes are amazing though, and the parts of the stream I saw were good.

You have to keep in mind that if they give us a date then we will hold them to it. As users and admins of networks and computers, many of us know that even just rebooting a server or computer can introduce a surprise that you did not expect and can then cause a delay in your plans. Performing a major upgrade like this and rolling out not multiple but dozens of servers and loading the game on them takes time. They also have to smoothly communicate with each other and with us. Then there is the testing that has to occur to make sure that everything functions. After that you do stress tests to make sure they can handle the volume. If all of these things are not accomplished then it could all crash and burn and cause issues that could keep is away from our game of choice for even longer than we would like. I think this team has done an amazing job so far and I am sure that we will all be totally blown away when we log back in. (in a good way)

I must say that after watching the final 30 minutes of live stream last night and the re watching the saved stream until the wee hours of the morning that I have a renewed appreciation for the devs.
They rock! Everyone is way cooler than I already thought.
In fact, the entire staff are just amazing!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!
Thank you all!

I just wish we were made aware of the extended downtime. The website made it look like it was going to be routine maintenance or an update to the code and not an overhaul that would take a day or two.

Ahoy everyone!

Firstly, we wanted to thank you for watching our stream tonight. We appreciate it! It’s great to see everyone come together for such an important milestone in TLOPO’s development. In case you missed the stream, you can watch it HERE!

We made some very big announcements in the stream! Here’s a brief recap for you:

• The developers have completely overhauled the backend of the game’s code to enhance performance! This means A LOT LESS LAG and A TON OF BUG FIXES!

• Our new website is about to launch!

• In order to implement this big update, the game’s servers will be going offline for an extended period of time. While we don’t have a set reopening date, we promise that the hiatus will be MUCH SHORTER than it was between Alpha and Beta.

• As a thank you for being so patient, we will be providing some codes in-game when we relaunch!

• During our downtime, the storyline team will be posting a variety of stories and puzzles with hidden messages!

The IRC Community Chat will be closing on April 15th. Since our player base in-game is expanding, we need to allocate more resources to moderating the Caribbean itself. Thank you so much for making the IRC a fantastic part of this community.

• If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us here!

We understand that it may be an inconvenience to have the game down for an extended period of time, but it is in the interest of quality. Due to the fact that large scale changes have been made to the game’s code, we want to implement this update slowly so that all of your pirates and progress will be intact when you return!

Thanks again for everything. You all have been an amazing community, and we can’t wait to see you on the seas again very soon!
