Just remembered this. I have a screenshot of Edward Edgemenace. He's wearing bright blue circus breeches.
Before looting was implemented, long before bosses even, you were able to find clothing in the MOST RAREST cases of defeating an enemy. I once had gotten a bright blue tank from a gypsy, but sold it since I thought it wasn't of any value. Edward here got the pants the same way I got the shirt.

I used to have a screen of me wearing those on my old computer. I, like you with the shirt, thought they were of little value and sold them. -_- Now I really wish I hadn't since they are possibly the rarest pants in the game, as I only know one person who owns them and that's Edward. I wish I still had the screen though, but my old computer crashed and I lost all of the screenshots.
